The NAB AFL Auskick program provides a fun and safe Australian Football experience for boys and girls in pre-primary (5 years of age) through to year 2. The program has been developed to build the foundation skills for playing Australian Football and to ensure all children, regardless of their ability, have an equal opportunity to handle the ball in order to develop their co-ordination, ball handling skills, confidence and social skills need to play a team sport.
The Scarborough Junior Football Club Auskick program is built on parental participation and ensuring the children’s experience is safe, fun and rewarding. Auskick provides an excellent opportunity for children to meet other local kids and form new friendships – with the club’s strong community feel, this applies equally to parents!
In 2018 the Scarborough JFC was lucky to be just one of a handful of Clubs within the Claremont District selected to participate in the new Auskick model. The new model was a great success and is being rolled out nationally by the AFL in 2019.
The new model allows kids of all abilities to develop their hand eye coordination and skills whilst having fun and making new friends. It is easier for parents to participate and the AFL has made a series of short videos that explain all the drills.
The 2019 season runs from Sunday 28 April with 14 playing days plus Gala Day with breaks for school holidays. Auskick is held on Sundays from 9am – 10.30am at Millington Reserve, Karrinyup.
